MemAid is a small, glasses-mounted helper that uses a camera and on-device intelligence to notice when something important was started — and not finished — in time. Our first proof-of-concept focuses on unattended kitchen hazards, with a clear path to broader home safety and memory support.
The problem
Small memory lapses around the stove or other home tasks can turn into
serious safety risks — especially for older adults who still want to live
independently.
Our approach
A glasses-mounted helper uses consumer-grade hardware to detect unattended hazards
in the wearer’s field of view and give a simple, private alert if something looks unsafe.
Where we are now
Working proof-of-concept for kitchen flame awareness, preparing a small pilot-ready MVP
that extends to additional home-risk scenarios while keeping the device small, wearable,
and easy to use.
